Biography
Joy Doll graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2002 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Occupational Therapy (BSOT). After working briefly in long-term care, Dr. Doll attended Creighton University graduating with her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) in 2003. During her doctoral studies, Dr. Doll developed a program on fall prevention for older adults to be implemented in faith communities and explored the role of occupational therapy in health ministry.
Upon graduation, Dr. Doll completed a VISTA with AmeriCorp coordinating a volunteer respite program for the Presbyterian Outreach. After her VISTA, Dr. Doll acted as the Coordinator for the Office of Interprofessional Scholarship, Service and Education designing and implementing community engagement activities for students across Creighton University’s School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.
Currently, Dr. Doll is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Creighton University with a focus on community practice. She is the OT Coordinator for the OT ILAC Program to the Dominican Republic. Dr. Doll has a writing contract with Advance for Occupational Therapy Practitioners and acts on the Board of Directors for the Presbyterian Outreach, along with remaining active with a variety of other community organizations/groups including the Omaha and Winnebago Nations. In her spare time, Dr. Doll likes to read, go to concerts, write, walk, play Boggle, photograph, and relax.
