Student Community Engagement Resources

OISSE's Engagement Opportunities connect students in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions (SPAHP) with community health outreach opportunities in rural and urban areas in eastern Nebraska. Community health outreach is offered to all students in the SPAHP as part of professional formation aligned with the Ignatian values of Creighton University.
The Office maintains a long-standing partnership with the Omaha and Winnebago Tribes addressing health disparities and providing students from across the health sciences with rural, cross-cultural, interprofessional learning experiences. Since 2005, OISSE’s community engagement model has expanded to include local opportunities in the Omaha metropolitan area, as well as international initiatives in the Dominican Republic and China. OISSE brings opportunities to students and faculty interested in community engagement activities.

Community Engagement Cancellations
As a health care professional in training, participatory attendance is an important aspect of your professional competence and this course. Once you register for a community-based learning experience, your prompt attendance and appropriate participation at the community site will be expected. Should an extenuating circumstance arise (e.g., illness, family death) that prevents you from participating in the learning experience, the absence must be validated by the course Instructor of Record; an unexcused absence is considered grounds for course failure
