The national Case Competition is an annual event hosted by the University of Minnesota’s Center for Health Interprofessional Programs. Out of nine teams, the Creighton team placed fourth receiving strong reviews from the panel.
The Case Competition brings together teams of four students from different health disciplines to analyze a complex patient case using a systems approach. Student teams register and receive the case in February each year. The teams are charged with developing a 20-minute presentation analyzing the problems and proposing solutions. At the Competition, teams present their analysis and are judged by a panel of experts.
This was the first year a team was sent from Creighton University. An interprofessional cohort of faculty members across the Health Science programs assisted in mentoring the students. The students met weekly, devoting more than 100 hours into the project.
