Biography

Kate Martens Stricklett has a diverse background in health education, gerontology, wellness, affordable housing, and nonprofit leadership and management. After graduating with high distinction with a Bachelor's of Science degree in community health education, her persistent interest in working with older adults prompted her to pursue graduate study in gerontology. Mrs. Martens Stricklett was awarded a graduate school fellowship and research assistantship and earned a Master's of Science in Gerontology degree as well as a graduate certificate in nonprofit organizational management and leadership. Her graduate study culminated in her recieving her nursing home administrator's license.

Mrs. Martens Stricklett has worked for a variety of organizations including, health departments, area agencies on aging,  wellness programs, homeless outreach programs, and with older adults across the health care continuum from independent living settings to long term care facilities.  

Most recently, Mrs. Martens Stricklett worked for a Nebraska faith-based senior living company and launched the company's first affordable senior living community. After managing the community for 5 years, she became a project manager for the company as they continued to build more affordable senior communities. She has earned numerous qualifications from nationally recognized affordable housing industry organizations including; a specialist in housing credit management (SHCP) from the National Affordable Housing Management Association and a certified occupancy specialist (COS) from the National Center of Housing Management. She continues to be passionate about older adults and serves on 3 affordable housing boards in the Omaha metro area.

Currently, Mrs. Martens Stricklett is the Education Coordinator for the Office of Interprofessional Scholarship, Service and Education (OISSE) designing and implementing interprofessional service learning and community engagement iniatitiatives for students and scholarly projects for faculty across Creighton University’s School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.
